Just in case you all needed more proof that Darren is seriously the sweetest person ever…
Molly from Adventures in Wonderland (who is adorable, by the way) was telling the group before the meet and greet that the prices for the VIP packages weren’t Darren’s idea. She said Darren suggested they be priced at $25 because he wanted them to be accessible to everyone and for more people to be able to meet him. AIW had to actually negotiate up the base price they could reasonably ask for each package without losing crazy amounts of money.
So the prices for the VIP packages were really and truly the lowest any of them could manage because Darren wanted it be that way for his fans.
My Darren Criss Listen Up experience in Ann Arbor is under the cut. The concert was in the morning and it was a VERY long day so this is just going to be the highlights. Bear with me because it’s a long post:
Darren Criss: the man who owns a $60,000 car, a $1.2 million house and still got driven to his first tour stop by his mom.
Keeping it real…
Darren Criss bought this Los Feliz, Calif. oasis for $1.2 million in late 2012. And just in time for summer, the ‘Glee’ crooner won’t have to go far for an exotic holiday. Secluded on a lot behind custom gates, the three-bedroom home is a mixture of Metropolitan chic and tropical cool with a flagstone entryway, beam ceilings, hardwood floors, fireplace, classic casement windows, modern kitchen, and private and lush yard with saltwater pool and fire pit.
Eventually, the time did pass, and we were brought up to meet him. My kiddo was so nervous and anxious that he was practically jumping out of his skin. And then he was there, and my son met his first love. It was adorable. Darren Criss was charming and lovely, and my son was so shy but happy. As for their conversation, that’s not really mine to share. Maybe someday, when my kid is older, he’ll write about it, but until then, it remains as it should be: between him and Darren.
My son gripped me into a fierce hug. “Mom,” he said to me, “meeting Darren Criss was all the trillions times better than a hotel with a pool.”
Did you find that you have to be, when you first started this show, ultra straight with who you’re dating because you play a gay guy on tv?
When My Son Met His ‘Boyfriend,’ Darren Criss
Back in December I asked my oldest son what he wanted for Christmas. He only had one request: “I want to meet Blaine and sing and play the guitar with him.”
My son has had a huge crush on Blaine, a popular character on Glee played by Darren Criss, for two years now. Despite the passage of time, his puppy love for Blaine (or “my boyfriend,” as my son likes to call him) has gone unabated. It’s cute and sweet, but it left me in a bit of a conundrum.
“Baby, there are some things Mom just can’t do,” I tried to tell him, but he wasn’t having any of it. He knew I could make this happen. I finally ended up saying, “You can’t ask for people for Christmas.” This seemed to satisfy my kid, and he let the subject drop.
Fast-forward a few months, and Darren Criss announced a 16-city concert tour. The tour wasn’t coming to our city, but it was coming within (long) driving distance. My husband and I looked at the announcement and then at each other. Could we make this work? It wouldn’t be easy or cheap, what with the cost of the tickets, gas and an overnight hotel stay, but we both knew there wasn’t really an option. We had to make it work.
I love this! I remember the very first story she wrote (it was here on Tumblr) and I’m so happy for her son, finally getting to meet Darren.
